The Man in the High Castle by Philip K Dick.
The Man in the High Castle (1963) is an alternative history novel by American writer Philip K. Dick. Set in 1962, fifteen years after an alternative ending to World War II in which the war lasted until 1947, the novel concerns intrigues between the victorious Axis Powers—Imperial Japan and Nazi Germany—as they rule over the former United States, as well as daily life under the resulting totalitarian rule. The Man in the High Castle won the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 1963.

Looked around the forum and the search with no luck. If we don't have a Non-Fiction list let's make one! Any links to old lists would be great too!

Thanks in advance!

Hey guys,

I need this book for my BA thesis, can't seem to find an ebook available for download for free anywhere. My card is expired and issuing a new one will take a bunch of time(which I don't have atm), I've been trying to find an ebook version of this book available for download for a while now and was wondering if any of you know/have access to any ebook libraries that might contain the title ''Archipelago'' by Monique Roffey? If anyone actually does, then please consider sharing this ebook with me, I have about a month tops before I have to be completely finished with my BA thesis and this book is the last bit of reading I need to do before writing.

Can this be a thread where we compile?

Foreward- These aphorism belong to a level of consciousness where thought and music unite. They are seeds which may develop into a comprehensive system of philospohy while, at the same time they are substance bringing sustinence to the soul. It is not necessary that the reader should understand them. He should use them as focal points for meditation and permit their meaning and to develop in his consciousness as a plant grows from seed. They are symbols first and concepts afterward. As concepts they illuminate the way for understanding. As symbols they open the door to the realization of that Reality which cannot be felt or thought.

Aphorisms
Consciousness-without-an-object is.

Before objects were, Consciousness-without-an-object is.

Though objects seem to exist, Consciousness-without-an-object is.

When objects vanish, yet remaining through all unaffected, Consciousness-without-an-object is.

Outside of Consciousness-without-an-object nothing is.

Within the bossom of Consciousness-without-an-object lies the power of awareness that projects objects.

When objects are projected the power of awareness as subject is presupposed, yet Consciousness-without-an-object
remains unchanged.
When consciousness of objects is born then likewise consciousness of absence of objects arises.

Consciousness of objects in the universe.

Consciousness of absence of objects is Nirvana.

W i t h i n Consciousness-without-an-object lie both the Universe and Nirvana, yet to Consciousness-without0an-object these two are the same.

Within Consciousness-without-an-object l i e s the seed of Time.

To be aware of Time is to be aware of the Universe, and to be aware of the Universe is to be aware of Time.

To realizse Timelessness is to attain Nirvana.

But for Consciousness-without-an-object there is no difference between Time and Timelessness.

Alan Watts Book Recommendations

Has anyone read any books by Alan Watts? If so, what are your favorite(s) and what were they about? I've been reading a lot of philosophers of late and would love to dabble in his writing but am not sure which book to get by him. Any recommendations would be appreciated deeply.

Anyone keeping a list of books recommended/mentioned by Duncan or his guests?

Hey all- In case you care, I'm new here. Been listening to DTFH for a month now, and it's become a daily habit. I could ad nauseam about how much it's done for me, but I assume if you're here, you get that...
By the way, any fellow Louisville, KY folks be sure to drop me a hello!

SOOO...wondering if anyone has kept track of what books DT and his guests read and have mentioned on the shows. I'm in awe of Duncan's rants and insights and want to know where he gets his information and inspiration. I've picked up some Alan Watts and Ram Dass (both very helpful to my life), but want more. I see a lot of recommendations on this forum, but understand they are all coming from his fans. Not that I'm discrediting those suggestions, it's just that I don't know you guys - nor Trussell - but I've had exposure to at least to his way of thinking and know I want more of it. Looking for the source(s)!

Much gratitude for your input in advance!
